Retail Thank You Note

Then came Ubuntu 10.04

New Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu (IPA: / ubuntu /) is a Linux distribution based on Debian GNU / Linux that provides an updated and stable operating system for the average user, with a strong focus on ease of use and installation of the system. Like other distributions are composed of multiple software packages typically distributed under a free license or open source. It is sponsored by Canonical Ltd., a British company owned by South African entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth that instead of selling for profit distribution, is financed through operating system-related services and selling support. Furthermore, by keeping it free of charge, the company is able to leverage developers community in improving the components of your operating system. Canonical also supports and provides support for four derivatives of Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu and Xubuntu Ubuntu server-oriented ("Ubuntu Server Edition." Every six months a new release of Ubuntu which is supported by Canonical, for eighteen months, by means of security updates, patches for critical bugs and minor updates of programs. The LTS (Long Term Support), which is released every two years, three years are supported in the desktop and five server-oriented edition. The current version of Ubuntu 9.10 ("Karmic" is released on October 29, 2009 and the next version, 10.04 (code name: Lucid Lynx), scheduled to be released on April 29, 2010.

's New? Ubuntu

10.04 Lucid was released to the public on April 29, 2010, and incorporates "Ubuntu One Music Store allows music purchased on the Internet more easily which is complemented by default support for the popular iPhone and iPod touch. Regarding connectivity features a notification system called "MeMenu" which makes managing different social networks, email and instant messaging. On the software side include version 2.0 of the Software Center Ubuntu Synaptic replacing, given the right to install individual packages and be able to monitor the PPA repositories that we have.

also includes a beginner-friendly manual will be updated with each new version of Ubuntu, and after nearly four years, Ubuntu has a new visual theme for windows desktop, a new logo and a new startup screen. In more technical terms we can mention the inclusion of series free driver Nouveau nVidia graphics card and the complete elimination of HAL, for DeviceKit, which results in an improvement in startup time. Also works with version 06/02/1932 Linux kernel and version 2.30 of the GNOME desktop.

Installation - Requirements

According to official documentation that the system would be working if you meet these minimum specifications:

* Processor: 300 MHz x86. * RAM: 64 MB. * Hard Drive: 4GB (for a complete installation including swap). * VGA graphics card. * CD-ROM or network card.

The previous team is already possible to install as a server, but is unlikely to do so fluently in a desktop computer so that the minimum recommended specifications are:

* Processor: 700 MHz x86 or x86-64. * RAM: 384 MB. * Hard Disk: 8GB. Graphics card capable of supporting a resolution of 1024x768. Sound card. * Internet connection.

And if you want to have desktop effects provided by Compiz, then the minimum processor power amounted to 1.2 GHz and must have a compatible graphics card.

My opinion: waiting to be downloaded and installed ...

Open Source Antivirus ...

To maintain security, nothing better than to make sense and act accordingly because the simple fact of having an antivirus does not mean that we are already sure that we are not going to enter new virus.

Still, have a fully updated antivirus will serve to reinforce that security, and for that we bring to ClamWin, a totally free antivirus and free under GNU GPL, which is an adaptation of Linux ClamAV antivirus for Windows.

currently is on version 0.84, available only in English and need to upgrade Internet access through the databases. It also allows the option to integrate with Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook as well as having a small resident monitor that constantly monitors the system.

These include a new main bar and a rewritten and simplified file browser. These developments are based on user feedback and change and improve in subsequent versions. The thin toolbar is still available if they prefer, but we encourage you to try the new toolbar and tell us what you think. The appearance of the file browser now fits better with the rest of Amarok with improvements such as browsing through Ariadne's thread, and is focused on being a system to find and play music instead of being a multi-file browser.
